چکیده

During the last two decades the development of contrast agents for myelography, angiography, computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MR) has been remarkable. What follows is a review of contrast agents used in neuroradiology-specifically, the ionic and nonionic contrast agents for radiographic/CT procedures, and the paramagnetic contrast agents used in MR studies. Topics covered are the indications for and use of contrast agents, doses and comparisons, complications and cost benefits, and what the future of contrast media might hold.

Excessive testing in emergent evaluation of children with first unprovoked seizure

Abstract   Backround: The first episode of an afebrile seizure is a common cause of admission   of children to emergency departments. Alot of tests are routinely performed for these patients. The cost of such an evaluation is high and benefits are doubtful. We conducted   this study in order to evaluate the results of the tests and find out what tests are necessary for children with first unp...

Pediatric perfusion MR imaging using arterial spin labeling.

Cerebral blood flow (CBF, cerebral perfusion) mirrors cerebral metabolic demand and neuronal function, and therefore, is a vital parameter in the evaluation of pediatric brain injury and recovery. Until recently, measurement of CBF involved intravenous bolus injection of contrast agents or nuclear medicine methods that were technically difficult or ethically problematic in pediatrics. The devel...

Recent Advances in PET-MR Hybrid contrast agent

Introduction: All of the Imaging modalities have advantages and disadvantages alone. So if we want to have the best and perfect image, combining these modalities produces something we desired. PET-MR images consist of morphologic and metabolic data. MRI and PET provide high spatial and contrast resolution and high sensitivity and molecular information respectively. Hybrid PET-...

Pediatric neuroimaging in early childhood and infancy: challenges and practical guidelines.

Structural and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) has been used increasingly to investigate typical and atypical brain development. However, in contrast to studies in school-aged children and adults, MRI research in young pediatric age groups is less common. Practical and technical challenges occur when imaging infants and children, which presents clinicians and research teams with a ...

Systematic review: Superparamagnetic Iron Oxide nanoparticles as contrast agents in diagnosis of multiple sclerosis

Several MRI contrast agents (CAs) are used in medical diagnosis that gadolinium (Gd3+) is the most widely used as contrast agents. Unfortunately, its toxicity is due to its inefficiency. In this review, we discuss about the ability of SPIONs in MRI and application in Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis. Superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) such as magnetite nanoparticles are used as goo...
